2008 Proclaimed “Year of Chingiz Aitmatov” in Kyrgyzstan
Posted in Culture, Interesting
I think it would be wiser if the government had chosen another “title” for the current year. Aitmatov had done a lot for Kyrgyzstan, it is true, but we have many other spheres that need more attention of the government.
BTW, Chingiz Aitmatov is not an ambassador any more. He has left politics forever.

thanks Bakai, for clarifying that Aitmatov left the politics forever. I also think that it would be better if our current government officials come up with another title, in order to pay serious attention to those spheres. This year Aitmatov will celebrate his 80s anniversary, so it would be way better if the Ministry of Culture proclaimed this year after his name, but not the government in general.

Thanks for your comment Ibragim about Chingiz Aitmatov. But he did his job for Kyrgyzstan in the field of Literature not in the politics or international affairs.
